This was caught by Tigers late last season. I had been doing bids based on the bottom once a player reaches minimums any season. C5 states prior to start of any season. They contradict each other. Which rule do we want to use.?
C5 - PROSPECT ELIGIBILITY
In The Show, certain ML players may be deemed "prospects" and are able to be retained by their owner without using a franchise or restriction tag. A prospect is a player who is not covered by an AAS contract (the kind typically given to minor league players) but who has not accrued 3 ML qualifying seasons. You may keep a prospect at $300k until he has played in 3 ML qualifying seasons. After said player has played in three (3) ML qualifying seasons (does NOT have to be consecutive), that player will have exhausted his prospect status and, if not under a The show contract, will be a FA. A player's "prospect" status is determined on the day before any regular season schedule commences. If a player qualifies as a The Show prospect immediately prior to the current regular season, then said player is deemed a "prospect" for that entire ML season. (See section Eb2 for AAS bidding on prospects)
b) Minor Leaguers are to be offered ONLY an offer indicating an AAS amount - NO years, total contract or annual breakdown is allowed. Any bids placed on Minor League Players with yearly breakdowns will be invalid. Like with MLB player bidding, the highest AAS wins the player. The player will receive this salary until either....
1) said player has used all three of his prospect (protected) years or
2) said player is dropped by the GM.
Once a player reaches the minimums in any give season he is no longer eligible for an AAS offer. See Section C6 for minimums.
