Marlins (Mario) will kick off this years draft three fold as they own the top 3 picks overall. The Rockies took over a team that has been on the rise. This team finished 2019 with its highest overall WP% in team history at .475%. On Dec. 17th, 2019 that momentum landed in the lap of the current owner who went out and nabbed himself the top 3 picks in the draft to build a stronger foundation to help support and continue this franchises rise and ultimate goal of winning its first championship.

2020 is the first year International players will be part of the MiLB Draft

Due to the international signing deadline being pushed to January 15th, 2021 however if you draft an international player and he ends up not signing then the player will become FA and you receive a compensation pick in the 2021 draft in the same round the player was drafted in. If multiple comp picks are in one round then order will be based on 2020 standings. Worst record gets higher pick.

So that is the risk...

Draft an international player now and you run the risk of losing him if he does not sign by the deadline.

These players can also not be traded until they have signed

As for players from the 2020 MLB Draft

These players must be signed by an MLB team. The signing deadline has been pushed to August 1st. Everyone in the first round has signed and only a few remain in the 2nd round. Due to this a clock will not be implemented right away. When all players in the 2nd sign I will start a 24 hr clock in the first round. If your player has signed though please go ahead an pick so that the league can have some fun drafting while we count down to the start of our 6 week season. When we get to the 2nd round we will go from there.

Thank the Nats for bringing to my attention the fact the international signing deadline is not Jan 15th, 2021 but Dec 15, 2021. What that will mean for us is if the international player you draft in here has not signed by time the '21 draft rolls around then you are out of luck on him and get the '21 comp pick. He still can not be traded in that time at all. Most do not hold out anyway so this really should not be a problem but just wanted league to be aware. I know I have been saying Jan 15th is the deadline but in my head it was so actually you get some extra time here. Thanks
